FAQs

Fabrics may stick to the soleplate when they are ironed at too high temperatures. To avoid sticking, you should follow the instructions in the fabric table in your instruction booklet. Try a lower temperature setting. Also, to prevent sticking you can put a cloth (e.g. a tea towel) between the iron and the fabric.

You probably live in an area with hard water. Hard water causes scale build-up inside the appliance. Use the Calc-Clean function a few times to remove scale from the iron before you start using the appliance again (see chapter 'Cleaning and maintenance' in the directions for use).

The Calc-Clean function removes scale and impurities.

  1. To do so, set the Steam control to 'DRY IRONING' position, set the temperature dial to 'MAX', and fill water tank up to the 'MAX' level.
  2. Then heat up the iron until the temperature light below the handgrip goes out.
  3. Remove the mains plug from the wall socket and hold the iron horizontally over the sink.
  4. Then press and hold the Steam control to 'CALC CLEAN' position.
  5. Move the iron forwards and backwards while boiling water/steam squirt from the holes in the soleplate to wash away impurities/scales.
  6. When the water tank is empty, release the Steam control and heat up the iron to dry it.
  7. Finally move the iron to and fro on a piece of cloth to dry the soleplate.
  8. Repeat the process if necessary.

There may be 2 main reasons for the water drips:

  1. Your iron produces a lot of steam. Steam could have condensed on the board cover, making it wet and cause water marks on your garment when the iron is pressed on it. Refer to question related to water leakage due to board condensation.
  2. Ironing aids or fragrance water could have been added to the water tank. This retards the steaming function, causing water to leak. Use only tap water or distilled water or a mixed of these two types of water.

Make sure the appliance is plugged into a working mains power. Set the temperature dial to desired 1dot/2dot/3dot/MAX position. It is normal for the temperature light to turn on and off during ironing. It comes on as the iron is heating up, and goes off when it is hot enough.

If the appliance has no power, try the following:

  • Try an alternative mains plug socket.
  • Try an alternative fuse in the plug.

Allow the iron to reach temperature and stabilise for 1-2 minutes if it has just been plugged in or has just been woken up from auto shut off. Also check you have set the correct heat setting for the garment.

If the iron has no steam or poor steam, check the following:

  • Check that there is enough water in the tank.
  • If your iron has an auto-shut off, check to see if this has activated, wake up the iron and allow it to reach temperature before using steam.

This is normal and is caused by water being pumped through the steam pump. The pump is controlled by the unit automatically to keep the boiler up to pressure.

If the appliance is tripping the electrics, try the following:

  • Try an alternative fuse in the plug.
  • Try an alternative mains plug socket.

Check the laundry care label of your garments to find the correct temperature to correspond with your appliance.
