FAQs

It is normal to receive a two-pin plug for a bathroom product (shavers, trimmers and toothbrushes), as this is the standard plug used for charging from your bathroom shaver electrical socket. If you do not have this electrical socket in your bathroom, you can buy a simple two-pin to three-pin adapter separately.

Yes, you can safely use it in the shower or bath and rinse it under the tap.

We advise you to use the SmartClean system at least once a week. For specific instructions, please consult the user manual. Please note:

  • Do not tilt the SmartClean to prevent leakage.
  • Always make sure to shake excess water off the shaver before you place it in the SmartClean.

Try charging the shaver for 2 hours. Then unplug the shaver and check if it is working. Perhaps the battery was almost completely empty. This may happen before first-time use. When you plug the shaver in, the battery starts charging very slowly to prevent damage. After about 30 minutes, the battery should contain enough power for the charging lights to go on. If the shaver still does not work after two hours charging, please contact the Philips Consumer Support. You can do this by clicking on the Chat button on the right or by calling 02079 490 240.

Please click here for the Philips troubleshooting tool. If you are unable to find a solution to your problem, we will guide you in booking a repair or exchange of your product in one of the Philips Authorised Service Centers.

After cleaning, water may drip from the shaver for a while because some water may collect between the inner body and the outer shell during cleaning. The inner body is completely watertight and water cannot reach the electronic parts of the shaver, so your shaver continues to be absolutely safe.

Yes, you can recharge your shaver after every shave. The battery in your shaver is a lithium-ion battery which allows you to recharge it every day. Unlike traditional batteries, this type of battery is not harmed by frequent recharging.

Your first shaves may not get you the result you expect and your skin may even become slightly irritated. This is not uncommon since your skin and beard need time to adapt to any new shaving system. It is recommended to take into account an adaptation period of 3 weeks during which you should shave regularly (at least 3 times per week) to allow your hair and skin to adapt to the new shaver. During this period, use your new electric shaver exclusively and do not alternate shaving methods; alternating shaving methods make it more difficult to adapt to the new shaving system.

The shaving unit symbol is automatically shown for 7 to 10 successive shaves. After 7 to 10 shaves it automatically stops. You can also reset it manually. Press and hold the on/off button for approximately 10 seconds.

Yes, you can clean the shaver under the tap. Be careful with hot water. Always check if the water is not too hot, to prevent your hands from getting burnt. Note: Never dry the shaving unit with a towel, as the loops of the towel may catch on the shaving heads, which may damage them.
This signal reminds you to replace the shaving heads of your shaver. New shaving heads guarantee continued optimal shaving performance. What reminder signal your shaver gives depends on the model. Some shavers beep, while others show a flashing shaving head symbol on the display. There are also models that beep and show a reminder signal on the display at the same time. How to reset the reminder signal: The replacement reminder is repeated at 7 to 10 successive shaves, depending on the model. In some models, you can reset the razor. Press and hold the On/Off button for approximately 10 seconds. If the shaving head symbol is shown in combination with an exclamation mark ("!") and a tap symbol, it means that the shaving heads are blocked. When this happens, you have to clean the shaving heads or replace them. (Note: only certain models have this feature)

There is nothing wrong with your shaver. This shaver is designed to be used with foam or gel in the shower. For safety reasons, this shaver does not work when it is connected to a power outlet because electricity and water are a hazardous combination. The only thing the shaver does when it is connected to a power outlet is charge the integrated battery. It charges through an adapter that converts the voltage from the outlet to a safe low voltage. Nevertheless, we urge you to keep the shaver and the adapter away from water during charging. The adapter is not waterproof. Your shaver will tell you when its battery is running low. It is equipped with a battery-low indicator that starts to flash orange when there is just enough energy in the battery for 1 shave.
