FAQs

1. First time usage

The first time you use your garment steamer, it might not produce steam right away as there is no water in the system yet. Do not worry, this is normal and will only happen the first time you use it.

Please, press the steam trigger for one minute. This will promote water circulation and the production of steam

2. The steamer has not heated up sufficiently

Your garment steamer needs to heat up heating before steaming. Allow it to heat up for 45 to 60 seconds before using it (the steam-ready blue light will be flashing).

When the steamer has heated up and is ready for use, the blue light will stop blinking.

3. There is no water (or low water level) in the tank

If the tank is empty, your Philips Garment Steamer will not be able to produce steam.

Please, refill the water tank.

4. There is condensation in the stand steamer's hose

When you hold your Philips Garment Steamer horizontally, condensation is created in the hose and this can block the steam flow. Due to this, your garment steamer could stop steaming or could start steaming intermittently.

To solve this, lift up your stand steamer’s head to straighten the hose vertically and hold your steamer in an upright position: This will allow any condensation and steam to flow again. After this, your stand steamer should steam again.

5. Too much scale build up in the steamer

When scale builds up in your Philips Stand Steamer, it might not be able to produce steam. Please, perform de-calc process detailed in the following lines:

1) Switch off and unplug your stand steamer and allow it to cool down for an hour.

2) Bring the steamer to a sink.

3) Locate the de-calc knob (you will find it on the lower area of the water tank).

4) Turn the de-calc knob anti-clockwise to unlock it.

5) Pull the de-calc knob out and let the water drain.

6) Once all water is drained, push the de-calc knob back in and turn it clockwise to lock it.

6. The handheld steamer is held horizontally

Your Philips Handheld Steamer is designed to be used vertically. When it is positioned horizontally, the water from the tank might not flow freely.

To prevent this, please hold your handheld steamer vertically while using it.

We recommend you to empty your Philips Garment Steamer’s water tank after using it. This will help preventing the formation of calcification and algae.

Yes, your Philips garment steamer can be safely used with any setting on any garment. It will not burn them.

Your Philips steam iron or garment steamer has been designed to be used with tap water. However, if you live in an area with hard water, fast scale build-up may occur.

Therefore, to prolong the lifespan of your iron or steamer it is recommended to use distilled or demineralized water (50% demineralized water mixed with tap water could be used too).

Please do not use perfumed water, water from the tumble dryer, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids, chemically descaled water or other chemicals as they may cause water spitting, brown staining or damage to your steam iron.

To perfume your clothes we recommend you choosing one of the following options:

• Using perfumed washing softener • Using essential oils (aromas) during washing • Spraying perfumed water after ironing.

If your Philips Lady Shaver is not working or removing your body hair properly, try our troubleshooting advice to solve this issue yourself.

1. The lady shaver is not charged

It could be that your shaver is not charged properly, because of which it does not have enough power to perform well.

Make sure that you charge your lady shaver long enough. Some models require 8 hours of charging, while other models only need 1 hour. You can find this information in the user manual or the product leaflet.

Also keep in mind that for safety reasons the wet and dry lady shavers can only be used cordless. Always unplug your Philips Lady Shaver before use.

2. Use the right attachment

f your lady shaver comes with an efficacy or skin stretching cap, try putting it on the shaving head. This attachment makes the hair on your skin stand upright, making them easier to remove.

3. It is very important to use proper shaving technique to get the best results. While shaving pull your skin tight with one hand and slowly move the shaver against the direction of hair growth.

The Philips Lady Shaver is designed to be used both wet and dry. When you choose to dry shave, make sure your skin is clean and completely dry before use. When you are wet shaving, we recommend lathering your skin with soap or shaving cream.

If you  have tried the tips above, but are still not satisfied with the performance of your Philips Lady Shaver then please contact us for further help.

If your skin feels itchy or red after using your Philips Lady Shaver, try our tips below to solve this issue yourself.

1. Use the shaver on clean skin

2. Use the shaver correctly

It is important to use the lady shaver correctly in order to avoid any pain or irritation and get the best results. When you start shaving, make sure your shaving or trimming head is in full contact with your skin and not slightly elevated. Do not press it too firmly on your skin, be gentle and move the shaver against the direction of your hair growth.

3. Check the shaver head

A dirty or damaged shaving head can be harmful to your skin. Always check your shaving or trimming head before use to make sure it is clean and in good condition. In case it looks dirty, clean it properly before use and if it is damaged order a replacement.

4. After care

If you are a first-time user or have very sensitive skin, a little bit of irritation is possible and nothing to worry about. This goes away with time. We recommend applying a mild and alcohol-free moisturizing cream after shaving. If the irritation lasts longer than 3 days, then please consult your doctor.
