FAQs

  • Firstly try to plug into a different socket that you know works. If this does not rectify the issue please unplug the power supply cables from the console, from the wall outlet, and from the power supply itself.
  • Now leave for 20 seconds (this will reset the power serge protector).
  • Now firmly plug the power cable back into the console, and then plug the power cable back into the electrical outlet and the power supply. It is important that you connect the power supply directly into a wall outlet, avoiding any surge protectors or extension cords, because they can affect the performance of your power supply, which has built-in surge protection.

Unlike the Xbox 360, which was capable of being positioned on its side or horizontally, the Xbox One can only be placed one way. The Xbox One has been designed to be sat horizontally, vertical positioning of the console is not supported.

Other positioning tips include:

  1. Keep your Xbox One flat.
  2. Position it away from direct heat sources.
  3. Keep the vents free from clutter in order to prevent overheating.
  4. Don‚'t put objects on, under or directly next to your Xbox One.

If your new Xbox Wireless Controller wasn’t able to take a firmware update during the console setup process, you’ll need to update the controller manually.

You can connect your controller to a Windows PC by using a USB cable, the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, or, if your controller has Bluetooth functionality, over Bluetooth. Some PCs also come with Xbox Wireless built in so you can connect a controller directly without an adapter. Make sure your PC has the latest Windows update. If you connect your controller to your device with a USB cable, the Windows device should automatically detect it.

To connect via wireless, press and hold the pair button on your controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly. Next, select the Start button on your device, and select Settings > Devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Everything else > Xbox Elite Wireless Controller.

To connect via Bluetooth, press and hold the pair button on your controller until the Xbox button flashes rapidly. Next, select the Start button on your device, and select Settings > Devices and make sure Bluetooth is set to On. Next, select Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth > Xbox Elite Wireless Controller.

If the controller won't power on, check the following:

  • Check the batteries and/or provide the controller with a full charge.
  • Connect the controller with the USB cable to see if it operates via this method.
  • Update the controller via the console settings.
  1. Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds until the controller turns off.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on.
